Mapcode Search

A mobile-first application for exploring places in Japan, checking a location on a map, and sharing Mapcode estimates.

From a place to a shareable location

Mapcode Search brings location search, a map, and sharing into one browser application. It accepts a place name, coordinates, or a Google Maps URL, so a location can be explored from information a person already has.

This is one of my independent applications published through Konekuto.

A short journey

  1. Enter a place in Japan, coordinates, or a Google Maps URL.
  2. Check the selected location on the map and open its details.
  3. Copy or share the location and the displayed code.

The application labels its codes as approximations based on DENSO MapCode. They should be treated as estimates and checked before using them for navigation.

Built around the map

The application uses Vue for the interface and Leaflet for the map. A mobile layout keeps location details available alongside the selected place, with copy and share controls close to the result.

The PWA caches the application shell for offline access. Map tiles and location search still require a network connection; installation does not make the full map available offline.

A different scale of product work

This project sits alongside my work on edge AI. It is a focused application with a direct user journey: find a place, inspect it, and share it.
